Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) Switchgear

Automatic Mains Failure SwitchgearThe Automatic Mains Failure (AMF) switchgear is designed to operate the generating set automatically in the event of mains power failure, supply power to the load and shut down the generator when the mains power is restored.

Basic Operation:
With the duty selector switch in the ‘auto’ position, the switchgear will monitor the mains supply. When a drop in voltage or mains failure is detected, the generating set will receive a signal to start and after achieving stabilised voltage and frequency, the pair of electrically and mechanically interlocked contactors or motorised circuit breakers will operate, disconnecting the mains supply and transferring the load to the generating set. When the mains supply is restored, the contactors or circuit breakers will be operated and transfer the load back to the mains.

Other features include:-
3 Attempts at start
Automatic battery charger
Delay on start
Delay on restoration

On standard units the basic instrumentation will be housed in a control cubicle mounted above the alternator with the changeover contactors supplied loose in a separate panel. Floor standing or wall mounting units can be supplied on request.
